"MY GRANDMA'S KITCHEN RULES!"

My Grandma's Kitchen Rules!
'My Grandma's Kitchen Rules!' (written by Bill Kirk) is a lovely story that will especially appeal to little girls. It's a special book for a grandmother to read to her granddaughter, or vice versa. The verses flow with the right rhythm and musicality, and possess the right touch of humor.

The illustrations (by Marina Movshina), done in soft pastels, are pleasing to the eye and possess a calming effect. At the end, there are also fun facts about ants and several pages of activities, making this book not only entertaining but also educational.

"Written in verse, this sweet and lightly humorous children's picture book is the story of a girl and the bond she shares with her grandma. A big part of this bond has to do with Grandma's cluttered kitchen, which is filled with all the curious and unusual things the girl brings her. Indeed, Grandma doesn't mind displaying all of what her beloved granddaughter brings. There's only one thing Grandma won't allow: ants! Naturally, ants do manage to find a way into her kitchen, with some disastrous and funny consequences.

(My Grandma's Kitchen Rules!) is a cute rhyming story about a young girl and her grandmother. Grandma loves all the things in nature that her granddaughter brings home, with one exception. Ants! Read along as all kinds of creatures and discoveries are brought home. See what happens when ants are introduced and the problems they bring with them. Do they get rid of them, if so, how? I'm not telling, you have to read this wonderful story to find out!

The illustrations (by Marina Movshina) in this charming story capture your attention and bring the rhyme to life. Lots of color and fun borders on each page bring you into the story. At the end of the story there are six pages of factoids, activities, games and a list of websites where you can go to learn more about ants. I think the thing I learned that really surprised me was the fact that if you collected all the ants in the world (that would be 10 QUADRILLION!!!) they would weigh as much as all the people in the world! That's a lot of ants.

Bill has once again combined a fun rhyming story with science.
