WRITING CREDITS
First and foremost, writing rhymes is a blast. Sometimes the cadence, diction or quirky nature of a rhyme will intrigue an editor just enough to get you accepted. Or it might fit just right in a magazine's publication schedule, sometimes as long as four years out. When all is said and done, you might even get paid.
Here are a few of the titles I was fortunate enough to get published in the early going, which was enough to keep ME going. Most of these pieces were paving stones on the road to picture book acceptance and publication. If you are in early days of your work, don't lose heart. Everything counts toward reaching your goals....
"The Cubs' Last Game", Boys' Quest Magazine, Aug-Sep 2004 with illustrations by Pam Harden
"Crystal Rainbows", Saplings e-zine, January 2005
"Dad, Can I Help?", Grandparents e-zine, June 2005
"What Happened To My Hotdog?", Wee Ones e-zine, July 2005
"Picture Day", Fun For Kidz Magazine, September 2007 and September 2014. Illustrations by Ginny Pruitt.
"A Snip, Clip Trip To Joe's Barbershop", Stories For Children magazine, March 2009, with illustrations by Kevin Scott Collier
In addition to children's rhymes, I've had a few other pieces published, some in rhyme and others not. This is a short list of those publication credits so far. Here's hoping there's more to come. You can also check out some of the news and feature articles I wrote for THE SUTTERTOWN NEWS and the THE OLD CITY GUARDIAN a few years back.
Enjoy.
